The book is roughly 2 inches taller than most coloring books and is not one you would be tempted to carry around with you. For anyone seeking to understand the early Ming dynasty or why a tantalizing opportunity was never fully exploited, Dreyer's clear, thoroughly researched, and well-argued study is an excellent place to begin.. It was pretty good in the first half but I find that I didn't enjoy it as much in the second. She enjoys pointing out the "incidentals" mentioned in the review above--sun, bird, butterfly, etc; and offering her own interpretations of what the rabbits in each scene are doing.. I look forward to reading more of his books in the future.. The trigonometry of the 1834 edition is presumably from Legendre. The appealing illustrations which decorate nearly every page and large type make for a comfortable read for readers new to chapter books. Anyone who is doing reports or working on a thesis, this book is a great tool to have.
